Despite the lengthy period of inclement weather and the extremely challenging conditions of recent weeks the build programme for award winning Imperial Ocean Plaza remains on track and is fast progressing towards a significant milestone. It is expected that by mid-summer this year the building superstructure will have reached its full height of seventeen storeys comprising 112 luxury apartments and 4 stunning penthouses with space allocated for retail sales and offices to the ground and first floors.

Unlike many new builds the commencement of other works is not dependent on this target achievement and a number of new activities are planned to start in the coming weeks. The structure, currently at seventh floor level will experience the start of external masonry works, construction of internal partition walls and the first phase of mechanical and electrical installation. In addition, and in line with the plan dedicated to quality assurance, mock installations will be completed in a designated area within the building to allow the opportunity for the contractor and developer to fine tune quality aspects of materials and finishes. This important element provides added purchaser comfort that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring finish excellence in this world class facility. This exercise critically allows for the original specifications to be revisited, updated and if desirable the introduction of quality improvements.

Imperial Ocean Plaza scooped a top award in the European sector of the highly prestigious and hotly contested International Property Awards held in London during October of last year, eclipsing all other local developments in winning the Best Residential High-rise Development in Gibraltar. It should also be particularly reassuring for owners to be aware that the site has received positive feedback by building professionals and Gibraltar Government officials for being well managed and rigorous in its health and safety procedures despite being a dynamic construction site within a challenging location. These important disciplines contribute to the overall success of the project and indicate the level of dedicated professional management that will deliver the completed building on schedule early 2019.
